EDPB Invites Stakeholders for Consent or Pay Guidelines Discussion
The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) is set to host a remote stakeholder event on November 18, 2024, from 10:00 to 16:00 CET. The purpose of this event is to gather insights from stakeholders regarding the upcoming guidelines on data protection legislation related to ‘Consent or Pay’ models. These models require individuals to choose between consenting to the processing of their personal data for a specific purpose or paying a fee.
The EDPB aims to collect valuable feedback from organizations with expertise in ‘Consent or Pay’ models. This input will play a crucial role in shaping the guidelines, which are an extension of EDPB Opinion 08/2024. That opinion focused on the ‘Consent or Pay’ model as it pertains to large online platforms, but the forthcoming guidelines will encompass a broader range of applications.
To participate in the event, the EDPB has launched a call for expressions of interest. This call seeks to select participants who can contribute meaningfully to the discussion on ‘Consent or Pay’ models. Interested parties can find more information and registration instructions through the EDPB’s official channels.
The call for expressions of interest will close once a sufficient number of applicants is reached, ensuring a diverse representation of stakeholders. This event is an important opportunity for organizations to influence the development of guidelines that will impact data protection practices across Europe.
