Italian DPA requests information from TikTok on access to data from China
The Italian Data Protection Authority ‘Garante’ has issued a request for information to TikTok in response to reports detailing possible breaches of personal data privacy by former executives.
According to reports former Byte Dance executive allegedly facilitated access to Italian and European users’ personal data by the Communist Party of China.
Byte Dance – TikToks mother company – denied this during recent official meetings on the matter. The Authority has given TikTok 15 days to respond to their inquiry and provide any observations into the reports.
