To get a better idea of the current state of facial recognition surveillance around the world, Surfshark compiled data on the status of facial recognition technology in 194 countries. Countries were assigned one of five statuses depending on how they have adopted facial recognition technology — in use, approved for use (not implemented), considering technology, banned, or no evidence of use.
