Swedish presidency tries to close in on the Data Act
The Swedish presidency of the EU Council is racing to wrap up the Data Act, a proposed data law that would govern how data is accessed, ported and shared. On Wednesday, 24 January, the Swedes put forward a new compromise which touches on scope, trade secrets, business-to-government (B2G) data access, international transfers, compensation and other points.
At next Tuesday’s Telecom Working Party meeting, delegates will be given the chance to discuss their thoughts on crucial questions still open. Following this, the Presidency will ask for comments on any remaining priority items by 3 February 2023 in an effort to swiftly reach closure on the file.
