Meta Threatens To Close Facebook And Instagram In Europe Over Data Scramble
In a document filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Meta Platforms Inc has warned it could be forced to close Facebook and Instagram in Europe if it does not find a way to transfer the data from its European users to the US.
Meta has clarified its position in a statement: “We have no desire or plans to withdraw from Europe, but the simple reality is that Meta, and many other companies, organizations and services, depend on data transfers between the EU and the US to operate global services.”
