Luxembourg launches ‘Data Accountability from A to Zen’ tool
The data protection authority of Luxemburg, the CNPD (Commission nationale pour la protection des données), in collaboration with the Luxembourg House of Cybersecurity and the National Cybersecurity Competence Center, has introduced DAAZ, a tool designed to help SMEs in Luxembourg comply with GDPR regulations.
The platform, co-funded by the EU under the ALTO project, aims to simplify GDPR obligations for small businesses, promoting transparency and strengthening consumer confidence. SMEs often face challenges in data protection due to limited resources and the evolving digital landscape. DAAZ was created based on feedback from 215 entrepreneurs and expertise from cybersecurity professionals to provide a user-friendly solution for GDPR compliance.
Developed in two phases, DAAZ emphasizes user experience by incorporating “story learning” and “learning by doing” methods. The tool aims to make data protection accessible in simple language and engage SMEs effectively. The involvement of experts from the LHC-NC3 was crucial in optimizing the platform technically. Pascal Steichen, CEO of the Luxembourg House of Cybersecurity, highlights the gamification aspect of DAAZ, making it educational and affordable. The platform, accessible at www.daaz-gdpr.lu, supports citizen engagement, equality, and the implementation of EU rights and values.
DAAZ’s launch addresses the specific data protection challenges faced by SMEs in Luxembourg, aiming to level the playing field with larger organizations. By integrating GDPR obligations into business activities, SMEs can enhance their compliance efforts and improve transparency. The tool is available in French, German, and English versions, with more languages to be added soon. Through DAAZ, SMEs can navigate the complex data protection landscape with a practical and intuitive online tool. The platform offers support for SMEs to assess, strengthen, and maintain their GDPR compliance, contributing to a more secure digital environment.
In response to the need for accessible data protection tools for SMEs, the CNPD developed DAAZ with a focus on user-friendly design and practical application. SMEs can now benefit from a free online tool that simplifies GDPR compliance and enhances their understanding of data protection requirements. With the support of the CNPD, LHC-NC3, and EU funding, DAAZ aims to empower SMEs in Luxembourg to navigate the evolving digital economy while building trust with consumers. The tool’s development process involved collaboration with entrepreneurs and cybersecurity experts to ensure its effectiveness in addressing the unique data protection challenges faced by small businesses.
