Emerging technologies

This report looks at emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence (‘AI’), blockchain, and adtech. These emerging technologies are able to harness vast volumes of data in real-time, and effortlessly transfer that data around a complex network of other connected systems and applications. The innovative ways in which data is used in these technologies, and the increasingly complex data flows, need to be considered in the context of the ‘new world order’ of the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) (‘GDPR’).
