U.S. regulators have discovered it’s not enough to stop government agencies from buying Chinese-made drones – Chinese-made components may also be a source of malware. But identifying the source of components is not always easy, and smart drones raise new issues.
Malware in drones, either in the form of a Trojan Horse built into the original electronics or smuggled in via software update is a major issue, especially when those drones are supplied by a foreign power. Ensuring drones are trustworthy has become a major undertaking.
