Consumers Concerned About AI’s Impact on Data Privacy
Recent research has revealed a considerable rift between consumer desires and organizational mindsets surrounding data privacy, especially in terms of artificial intelligence (AI). According to findings from Cisco’s 2023 Data Privacy Benchmark Survey, comprised of responses from 3100 security professionals, and the 2022 Consumer Privacy Survey, this disconnect is particularly visible with respect to AI technologies like ChatGPT.
60% of consumers surveyed indicated that they were worried about how companies are leveraging AI today, and an astounding 65% have already lost faith in businesses as a result of their artificial intelligence techniques. Contrasting this viewpoint, a staggering 96% of security professionals involved in Cisco’s 2023 study reported that their organizations had protocols in place to guarantee accountability and societal standards of privacy with regard to their AI practices– something that customers demand.
